Cookies and Toffee in One Dessert

The perfect dessert to take to a friend's house or serve at home. Toffee Bar Cookies are easy to make and are a delicious treat.

Ingredients

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 cups flour, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup sliced almonds

***

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare well greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolk and mix well.

Gradually stir in flour. Add vanilla and almond extract.

Spread cookie mixture in to bottom of prepared 9 x 13 pan. Bake 25 to 30 minute, until golden brown.

Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. As chocolate softens, spread to cover cookie surface. Sprinkle with nuts.

Cut into bars while cookie is still warm. When cookies have cooled, remove from pan and serve. Delicious!

Makes about 2 dozen bars.

TRY: White chocolate chips and pecans for a different and delicious bar cookie.
