Annie's Pumpkin Pie

This was my great grandmother's pumpkin pie recipe.
My family has been enjoying it for generations, for dessert and often for breakfast the next morning!
I hope you enjoy it too.

Crust

1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
2-3 tablespoons water

Mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until course meal texture is obtained. Sprinkle water over dough mixing gradually with a fork. Form into a ball and chill for 10 minutes. Roll out ball from center to edge until about 1/8 inch thick. Makes one 9" pie crust.

Pie Ingredients

1 29 oz can pumpkin (about 3 cups)
3 cup sugar
6 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
6 eggs, beaten
3 tablespoons butter, melted
3 cups milk

Combine pumpkin and sugar in bowl. Add cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg; mix well. Beat in eggs, melted butter and milk.

Pour filling into 9 inch pie crust. Bake at 450 degrees F for 12 - 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F and bake an additional 45 to 60 minutes. Until center of pie is just set.

Makes two 9" pie fillings. Enjoy!
