Simple Pecan Scones

These easy to make pecan scones are great for breakfast or perfect for an afternoon snack. Simple and delicious, not too sweet. Enjoy with preserves or jam for a sweeter treat.

Ingredients

3 cups flour
½ cup sugar
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, chilled, cut into small cubes
½ cup dried cranberries, soaked in orange juice
½ cup pecans
½ cup milk
¼ cup sour cream
1 egg

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter until dough is in pea-sized crumbs. Drain cranberries and add to dough with pecans.

In a small separate bowl, whisk milk and egg. Add to dry ingredients and mix just until incorporated and dough can be clumped together in a ball.

Roll out on floured surface to ½ to ¾ inch thick. Cut into desired shapes and bake at 375 degrees until golden brown, about 25 minutes.
Dough can be frozen and baked later. Increase baking time for frozen dough. Perfect with tea or coffee!
