Buddy's Favorite Pecan Pie
My dad loved pecan pie. So much so, that when he was a waiter at the King's Arms Tavern in Williamsburg, VA, he would take a piece home in his pocket! This pie was his favorite.
Crust
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
2-3 tablespoons water
Mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until course meal texture is obtained. Sprinkle water over dough mixing gradually with a fork. Form inot a ball and chill for 10 minutes. Roll out ball from center to edge until about 1/8 inch thick. Makes one 9" pie crust.
Ingredients
4 eggs beaten
1 cup sugar
1 cup pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup dark Karo syrup
1 tablespooon butter, melted
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients. Pour in 9" pie crust. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce oven to 350 degrees and bake an additional 45 minutes.
Makes one 9" pie. Enjoy!
