Go Wild with Monkey Bread!

Mom's Monkey Bread...a favorite in our family.
Sweet, moist, delicious pull apart bread.

Ingredients

1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup warm water
1 package yeast
1 egg, slightly beaten
4 to 4 1/2 cup flour

Filling

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
**or**
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 cup pecans, finely chopped

Prehead oven to 350 degrees F. Generously grease tube or Bundt pan.

Scald milk. Stir in sugar, salt, butter and cool.

Place warm water in a large bowl and add yeast. Add milk and egg. Add flour, two cups at a time.

Place dough in large greased bowl and cover with damp towel. Put bowl in warm place and allow dough to rise 1-2 hours. Punch down and allow to rise again about 45 minutes.

Melt butter and place in small bowl. Combine sugar, cinnamon, and pecans (optional) in a seperate bowl.

Break dough apart into about 35 to 40 pieces and make into balls. Dip each ball into melted butter then cover with cinnamon and sugar mixture. Place balls in prepared tube pan, pressing them closely together, making about two layers of the dough balls.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 to 40 minutes. Let bread cool at least 1/2 hour before turning out of pan.

Delicious!
