Baking Substitutions and Equivalents

3 teaspoons............. = 1 Tablespoon

2 Tablespoons.......... = 1/8 cup or (1 fluid oz.)

4 Tablespoons.......... = 1/4 cup or (2 fluid oz.)

1 Cup....................... = 16 Tablespoons or (8 fluid oz.)

2 Cups..................... = 1 Pint

4 Cups..................... = 1 Quart

4 Quarts................... = 1 Gallon



****Baking Substitutions****

Don't Have:....................................Try these easy Substitutions!

1 cup Cake Flour.......................2 Tbls.corn starch, plus 7/8 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp.Baking Powder................... 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar + 1/4 tsp. baking soda.

1 tsp. pumpkin spice................... 1/2 tsp. cinnamon + 1/4 tsp. ground ginger,1/4 tsp. allspice, and 1/8 tsp. groung nutmeg.

1 tsp. apple pie spice.................. 1/2 tsp. cinnamon + 1/4 tsp.ground nutmeg, 1/8 tsp. allspice, and 1/8 tsp. cloves or ginger.

1 tsp. fresh ginger...................... 1/4 tsp. ground ginger.

1 tsp. lemon juice....................... 1/2 tsp. vinegar.

1 cup granulated sugar............... 1 cup packed brown sugar or 2 cups powdered sugar.

1 cup molasses............................ 1 cup honey.

1 cup honey................................. 1 1/4 cup granulated sugar + 1/4 cup water.

1 cup corn syrup......................... 1 cup granualted sugar + 1/4 cup water.

1 cup buttermilk......................... 1 Tbl. lemon juice or vinegar + 1 cup milk; let stand 5 mins.

1 cup half and half...................... 1 Tbl. melted butter + enough whole milk to equal 1 cup.
(no whole milk?) use 1/2 evaporated milk+ 1/2 water.

1 ounce unsweetened chocolate....3 Tbl. unsweetened cocoa powder + 1 Tbl. shortening, melted.
